Pune: C-DAC to Build State-of-the-Art IT Facility in Bhosari
Pimpri, June 12, 2024 – A cutting-edge and well-equipped building will be constructed on a 10-acre site in Sector 12, Bhosari, for the major expansion of computer training, research, development, and educational facilities, announced Sanket Bhondve, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The new building, developed on behalf of the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, will be situated on the Pune Metropolitan Pradesh Development Authority’s site in Bhosari. Joint Secretary Sanket Bhondve made this announcement during a site inspection.
Retired Colonel and Executive Director of Corporate Strategy A.K. Nath and Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil welcomed the dignitaries. City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke, Anna Bodde, Public Liaison Officer Prafulla Puranik, senior officials of C-DAC Pune, and officials and employees of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority were also present.
The strategically secured land in this rapidly developing township is designated for IT. The first phase of the expansion will focus on establishing a comprehensive educational facility where students can study various C-DAC IT courses in high-end technology areas such as VLSI, HPC, Big Data, and AI. This development will significantly enhance C-DAC’s capacity, allowing up to 1,200 students to enroll, compared to the current 650 at the Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS) in Pune.
In subsequent phases, C-DAC plans to set up state-of-the-art research and development facilities, including high-end data centers with indigenous high-performance computer facilities. These facilities will feature advanced R&D labs dedicated to developing next-generation supercomputers, interconnects, and related technologies.
The establishment of these advanced academic and research facilities in Chikhli marks a significant milestone in C-DAC’s commitment to excellence in technology education and research. The new building will boast state-of-the-art architecture, efficient ventilation, a well-equipped parking lot, helipad, drone pad, solar system, and an eco-friendly campus, Joint Secretary Sanket Bhondve added.
