Pune: Biker Dies on the Spot After Being Hit by Speeding Dumper in Lohegaon

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 22-year-old biker in Lohegaon on Monday, March 18, 2025. The victim, identified as Swapnil Prakash Salve, was riding his motorcycle from Dudulgaon to Kesnand via D.Y. Patil College Road when a speeding dumper hit him near Hindustan Kirana, Moze Nagar Lane No. 3, around 12 PM.

Swapnil was crushed under the rear wheels of the dumper and died on the spot. The dumper driver, Venkata Gurappa Pawar, fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.

Swapnil, a resident of Yavat, Daund, Pune, was pursuing a B. Pharm degree at Gyanvilas College of Pharmacy, Dudulgaon. He lived with friends in Kesnand and worked at a medical shop in Chandan Nagar. He regularly traveled on the same route, and his sudden demise has left the local community in shock.

A police complaint was filed by Madhav Dhondiba Sable, a resident of MIDC Dongre Vasti, Nighoj, Chakan. A case has been registered against the dumper driver, Venkata Gurappa Pawar, under IPC Sections 106 and 281, as well as the MV Act 184. The investigation is being led by Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari and Sub-Inspector Akshay Sonawane, reported Lokmat Times.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the area, with locals urging authorities to take stricter measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
