Pune: All flights to be moved to new terminal within a month, old terminal to be renovated
As the new terminal at Pune airport became operational on July 14, all the flights will be gradually shifted to the new terminal within a month.
After all the flights have been shifted to the new terminal, the old terminal will be closed for operations and be renovated. The renovation work is expected to be finished by March next year.
A sum of Rs. 25 crore has already been sanctioned for the renovation of the existing airport terminal. The arrival area of this building will be changed to another departure area, where 16 new check-in counters will come up, in addition to more infrastructure. The departure area of the airport’s existing building is expected to be dismantled.
The total flight movements (departure and arrival) each day at Pune airport rests between 185 and 192 at present. The total daily passenger movements are around 31,000.
