Pune International Airport has taken a giant leap towards modernization with the inauguration of several new facilities aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency. The Digi Yatra facility, a contactless and paperless travel system based on facial recognition technology, was launched today by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol.

This innovative system allows passengers to complete check-in, security checks, and boarding processes seamlessly, saving time and eliminating the need for physical documents.

In addition to Digi Yatra, a state-of-the-art commercial lounge was inaugurated at the airport, offering passengers enhanced comfort and better dining options. The lounge is designed to provide a relaxing environment for travellers, ensuring a seamless journey.

Further elevating the airport’s infrastructure, Pune International Airport has introduced a Smart Visual Docking Guidance System. This advanced technology eliminates the need for manual marshalling of aircraft, streamlining the parking process for incoming planes. Integrated with the airport’s automated operation control centre, the system provides real-time guidance to pilots, ensuring safer and faster docking procedures. With ten parking bays and ten aerobridges, this system is expected to reduce the risk of accidents and optimise parking space utilisation.

Adding to the passenger-friendly initiatives, the airport is set to launch the Udan Yatra Cafe by the end of February. Located near the exit gate of the new terminal, the café will offer affordable refreshments, including tea and bottled water for just ₹10 each, and other items like coffee, samosas, and gulab jamun priced at ₹20.

This initiative, part of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, aims to make air travel more accessible and affordable for common passengers.

These developments mark a significant transformation for Pune International Airport, aligning it with global standards and ensuring a hassle-free, efficient, and comfortable experience for travelers.
