Pune: AeroMall Introduces Express Lane for Feeder Buses to Ease Traffic at Pune Airport

Pune, 23rd March 2025: In a bid to streamline passenger movement and reduce congestion, AeroMall authorities have launched an express lane exclusively for feeder buses transporting passengers from Pune Airport’s arrival gate to the designated cab pick-up area.
The initiative comes in response to frequent complaints about unorganized parking, particularly by private vehicles, near the airport’s arrival and departure sections. The issue had worsened during late evening hours, causing significant delays.
Y.S. Rajput, Vice President of AeroMall, emphasized the importance of the new system. “The express lane became operational earlier this week. We currently have three dedicated buses ferrying arriving passengers from the airport to AeroMall, where they can easily access their cabs,” Rajput explained. He added that haphazard parking near the departure section previously caused delays for these buses. With all flights now shifted to the new terminal since March 5, maintaining smooth transit has become a priority.
Rajput also highlighted challenges in enforcing parking regulations. “We impose fines on unoccupied cars with engines switched off in the express lane. However, some drivers keep their engines running and have someone sit inside to evade fines, leading to arguments with our staff,” he said.
Under the current policy, commercial vehicles can drop off passengers but are not permitted to pick them up. Private vehicles are allowed only for quick pick-ups and drop-offs and must exit promptly. AeroMall also offers a multilevel parking facility for early arrivals, though many vehicle owners ignore this rule, parking in restricted areas and causing congestion.
With the express lane now in place, authorities aim to ensure a more efficient and hassle-free experience for travelers while maintaining smooth traffic flow outside the terminal.
