Pune, April 3, 2025 – A 32-year-old car driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run case of a morning walker in Undri has been arrested by the Kalepadal police. The accused, Sameer Ganesh Kad (32), a resident of Kadnagar, was apprehended late Tuesday night following an intensive search operation.

The victim, Sujit Kumar Singh (49), a security manager, was struck and killed during his morning walk on Tuesday at around 7 am. Police swiftly formed two teams to track down the vehicle and the accused.

Investigators analyzed CCTV footage, which revealed a grey Tata Nexon car was involved in the accident, though its number plate was unreadable. Authorities narrowed down 2,500 recently sold grey Nexon cars before identifying the suspect.

Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil stated, “We identified the car after analyzing multiple CCTV footages and arrested the accused.” The car was later found hidden in Autade Wadi with its number plates removed.

Police have invoked Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in addition to other charges, and further investigations are underway.
