The security project will be executed in two phases, starting with 12 hills in Pune. Senior police officials, including Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, have finalized the security plan following site inspections. The initiative aims to prevent crimes such as robbery and assault, which have been reported in these remote areas.

Key Security Measures

  • 600 AI-Powered CCTV Cameras: These will be installed across 22 hills, including Hanuman Hill, Bopdev Ghat, Old Katraj Ghat Tunnel, Taljai Hill, Sutardara-ARAI Hill, Baner Hill, Vetal Hill, Chatushrungi Hill, Kondhwa’s Parsi Maidan, Parvati, Canal Road, and temple areas like Jogeshwari and Bolhai Mata. Of these, 200 will have Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) functionality, and AI-based cameras will detect and track criminal activities in real time.
  • Panic Buttons for Immediate Alerts: Installed at strategic locations, these buttons will instantly notify the police control room and alert patrolling officers in case of an emergency.
  • 177 High-Intensity Floodlights: These will be installed to improve visibility at night, ensuring safer movement for residents and visitors.
  • Loudspeaker System for Emergency Announcements: This will allow police officers to issue warnings and guidance in distress situations.

Additional Security Enhancements

  • Drones and Patrolling Vehicles: These will be used for real-time surveillance.
  • Radio Frequency System: This will ensure uninterrupted police communication in areas with weak signals.
  • Live CCTV Monitoring: When a panic button is activated, live footage will be transmitted to the police control room for immediate response.

A senior police officer emphasized, “We are committed to ensuring public safety. The integration of AI-based surveillance, panic buttons, and real-time monitoring will significantly strengthen security on Pune’s hills and prevent criminal activities.”

The project marks a major step toward enhancing safety in Pune’s public spaces, demonstrating a strong collaboration between the government and law enforcement to improve security infrastructure across the city.
