Pune: 23-Year-Old Dies as Car Crashes into Scooter, Cartwheels Thrice on Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass
Pune: A tragic accident on the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass in Balewadi claimed the life of a 23-year-old man on Friday evening. The deceased, identified as Vinayak Sasane, was a passenger in a car that crashed into a scooter and cartwheeled three times.
According to the Bavdhan police, the car was not being driven by Sasane at the time of the accident. The driver, who fled the scene, is currently being searched for. Documents found in the car confirmed Sasane as the owner.
The accident occurred around 4:45 PM when a couple on the scooter, along with their relatives, were returning from Holi celebrations at a nearby hotel. As they entered the bypass from the service road, a speeding car heading towards Wakad collided with the scooter, causing the car to cartwheel multiple times.
The injured scooterists were rushed to a hospital, and a complaint has been filed by the brother-in-law of one of the victims. Sasane, who sustained critical injuries, succumbed during treatment.
Assistant Inspector Balaji Thakur of the Bavdhan police stated that investigations are ongoing to locate the absconding driver.
