Pune: 21-Year-Old BCS Student Attempts Suicide by Jumping from Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station

Pune, 24th February 2025: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old student attempted suicide by jumping from Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station around 6 p.m. on Monday. The student, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) at DY Patil College in Pradhikaran, is currently in critical condition and has been admitted to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri.
While the exact reason for the suicide attempt remains unclear, friends of the student revealed that he was under significant financial strain and facing monetary pressure from his family. However, they emphasized that his academic performance was strong and likely not a contributing factor.
Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag of Pimpri Police Station stated, “The incident occurred around 6 p.m. The boy is in critical condition and is admitted to YCM Hospital. He is a 21-year-old BCS student at DY Patil College. His friends have mentioned financial strain within the family, but nothing is confirmed yet. We are investigating the matter further.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
