Police Identifies 2,576 Crime Hotspots in Pune; Max Areas in Zone V & III Under Enhanced Surveillance

The Pune Police have identified 2,576 crime hotspots, with the majority falling under Zone V and III jurisdictions. Under the Cop24 initiative, intensified patrolling and surveillance are being conducted five times a day to curb criminal activities. Observations from patrolling teams are recorded in the MySafe and Dial 100 apps for real-time monitoring.
Launched by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Cop24 aims to strengthen law enforcement and reduce police response time. The system, managed centrally by the Crime Branch, ensures efficient deployment of personnel using technology, data analysis, and real-time monitoring.
Additionally, the Crime Branch has compiled a database of 30,000 criminals, uploaded on the MySafe Crime Module app, containing details like residence, past offences, and recent cases. Beat officers have been directed to update accused whereabouts digitally.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar highlighted the success of technology-driven policing, leading to a decline in street crimes, murders, and attempted murders. Over 2,500 hotspots have been mapped, and a 30,000-criminal dossier has been updated for swift action.
The police have set a 6% reduction target in murder-related crimes compared to last year. Commissioner Kumar confirmed 100% compliance in patrolling hotspots five times daily and emphasized addressing challenges in red zone areas under specific police stations.
