NHAI blacklists toll plaza operator for misbehaving with highway users
According to an official statement issued on Friday, the NHAI has taken strict action against toll operator M/s Riddhi Siddhi Associates for an incident of assault and misbehaviour with National Highway users at Sirmandi Toll Plaza on the Amritsar-Jamnagar section in Rajasthan. NHAI blacklisted toll plaza operator after the assault and misbehavior occurred.
The NHAI blacklists the toll plaza operator following a report of assault and misbehaviour by toll operating agency employees with highway users at Sirmandi Toll Plaza on May 5.
“The Authority has debarred M/s Riddhi Siddhi Associates for a period of three months from the list of pre-qualified bidders,” according to a statement released by NHAI.
The NHAI issued a’show cause’ notice to the firm following the incident, and the toll operating agency’s response was found to be inadequate. According to the official statement, the agency violated contractual provisions and the NHAI Standing Operating Procedure by engaging in violence and misbehaving with highway users.
The NHAI’s contract agreement with its toll operators clearly states that the contractor’s personnel shall not misbehave with members of the public and must maintain strict discipline and decency in their behavior, according to the statement.
Last year, the NHAI issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to reduce incidents of conflict at toll plazas and protect the interests of both commuters and toll operators.
