A terrifying fire erupted near the Dharavi Bus Depot on Sion-Dharavi Link Road late Monday night after multiple gas cylinders exploded from an illegally parked truck. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as more than 15-20 LPG cylinders detonated, sending flames and thick plumes of smoke into the air. “It was so terrifying – the explosions just kept happening,” tweeted a local resident. The fire quickly spread, damaging several parked vehicles, though no injuries have been reported so far.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, and operations are still underway to fully contain the blaze. Authorities suspect the fire started due to a gas leak from the truck, which was reportedly carrying a large number of cylinders illegally parked in the area.

Dharavi, known for its crowded settlements and narrow lanes, poses significant challenges for emergency response teams. Locals fear such incidents could have catastrophic consequences if safety regulations are not strictly enforced. Investigations are ongoing to determine responsibility for the illegal storage and transportation of the gas cylinders.
