Mumbai IPS Officer Sudhakar Pathare Dies in Tragic Road Accident

In a heartbreaking incident, IPS officer Sudhakar Pathare lost his life in a fatal car crash near Sri Sailam, Telangana. The 2011-batch officer, who was currently serving as DCP (Port Zone) in Mumbai Police, was en route to Nagarkurnool when his vehicle collided with a bus, leading to his instantaneous death. A relative accompanying him also succumbed in the accident.
Pathare was in Hyderabad for training and had planned a visit to the Jyotirlinga temple with his family when tragedy struck. Telangana police have informed Mumbai Police about the incident, sending shockwaves through the Maharashtra law enforcement community.
Who Was Sudhakar Pathare?
Hailing from Valvane in Ahmednagar district, Dr. Sudhakar Pathare was a highly decorated officer with an MSc (Agriculture) and LLB degree. Before joining the IPS, he served in various government roles, including District Special Auditor (1995), Sales Officer Class-1 (1996), and Police Deputy Superintendent (1998).
During his illustrious career, he held key positions in Chandrapur, Vasai, CID Amravati, and multiple units across Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Navi Mumbai. Known for cracking down on organized crime, illegal gambling, and maintaining public order, Pathare was widely respected for his dedication and reformative initiatives in the police force.
His untimely demise has left a deep void in Maharashtra Police, with colleagues mourning the loss of an exemplary officer.
