Microsoft Outage leads to manual check-ins, flight delays at all airports, including Pune
A global outage of Microsoft’s apps and services on Friday has affected the services of Indian carriers, prompting manual check-ins and causing delaying flights at all airports including Pune.
Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke confirmed that the problem had indeed affected the airport. “Indigo has the maximum number of flights in Pune.
“We have very few flights during the day, so Pune Airport hasn’t faced major issues,” he added. Pune Airport, which operates mainly at night due to sharing the runway with the Indian Air Force during the day, has managed to avoid major disruptions.
Dhoke mentioned, “Airlines are handling boarding manually due to technical issues, causing minor delays. No significant delays have been reported so far.”
The check-ins are being done manually. Additional manpower has been deputed now and the situation is under control,” he said.

Different airlines including IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa, Air India Express, Vistara, Air India, Air Asia etc, informed passengers via social media platforms about the problem and its impact on them.
“As systems are impacted globally due to ongoing issues with Microsoft Azure, we kindly request you to refrain from making multiple booking attempts during this time. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issue and appreciate your patience,” IndiGo said on X.

“I reached the check-in counter of IndiGo for my flight to Hyderabad and found a big queue. I didn’t know what was the problem but the check-in was happening really slowly. Finally after around 40 minutes, I was given my boarding pass and the information written on it was done manually. The delayed check-ins resulted in long queues and chaos during the security check too. Fortunately however, I was able to reach and made it on time,” a flyer from Pune said.
According to flightradar24.com, 245 flights (181 departures and 64 arrivals) faced delays till 1.10 pm on Friday at the Delhi International Airport. India’s busiest airport handles about 1,260 daily scheduled flights. Delhi International Airport Limited, which manages the airport, said it is working with all “stakeholders” to minimize inconvenience to flyers.
