Maharashtra Weather: Orange alert in many districts including Pune for rain and thunderstorm
According to Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Mumbai, many districts in Maharashtra are likely to witness rough weather in the next few days till May 15. Rain, thunderstorm, lightening and strong winds are predicted across the state. Some districts have been placed on orange alert for weather conditions and majority of the districts of Maharashtra are on yellow alert.
Districts on Orange Alert (Be Prepared)
Many districts in the state have been placed on orange alert for thunderstorms, lightening, rain, hailstorm and winds gusting up to 40-50 kmph. These districts and their orange alert dates are as follows:
- Pune – May 11 & 12
- Satara – May 12
- Nanded – May 12
- Latur – May 12
- Chandrapur – May 12
- Yavatmal – May 12
Districts on Yellow Alert (Be Updated)
Besides the above districts that are placed on orange alert, most of the districts in the state are placed on yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightening, and winds gusting up to 30-40 kmph. Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Osmanabad, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur , Wardha and Washim districts have been placed yellow alert till May 15.

Rain Lashed in Pune With Gale Force Winds
Pune witnessed rain with gale force winds on Friday and many areas of the city were waterlogged. Many trees were uprooted and damage to vehicles was reported. The rain brought momentary relief for the residents from the sweltering heat. The sky is expected to remain cloudy till May 15 and on May 11 and 12, the city has been placed orange alert.
Mumbai Weather
The weather in Mumbai and its suburbs will be cloudy in the mornings and mostly clear in the afternoons. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 34°C and 27°C respectively.
Temperature Extremes in Maharashtra
In the last 24 hours, Akola recorded the highest temperature of 43.2°C and Chandrapur recorded minimum temperature of 20.2°C.
People are advised to be watchful the weather conditions in the state and take necessary precautions against lightening strikes, falling trees and flying debris due to heavy winds.
