Meanwhile, districts such as Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, and Yavatmal are on yellow alert for thunderstorms, fast winds, and light rain due to the interaction of opposing winds. Pune is expected to see increased cloud cover, offering some respite from the scorching sun.

Temperature Trends Across Maharashtra

The weather department has recorded significant temperature variations across the state. Chandrapur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 40.6°C, while Pune experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 18.4°C. Other notable temperatures include Mumbai, where the mercury hovered between 24.7°C and 32.5°C, and Nagpur, which saw temperatures ranging from 20.8°C to 39.4°C. Akola and Aurangabad also reported high maximum temperatures of 40.1°C and 37.2°C, respectively.

What to Expect in the Coming Days

While the heat wave has abated, the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make conditions uncomfortable in coastal and central Maharashtra. Cities like Mumbai and Pune will continue to experience warm days, with temperatures likely to remain in the mid-30s. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, under a yellow alert for hot and humid weather, will face particularly sticky conditions.

In contrast, districts like Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, and Yavatmal are on yellow alert for thunderstorms, fast winds, and light rain. These areas could experience sudden weather changes, including gusty winds and brief downpours. Residents in these regions are advised to stay alert and avoid venturing out during severe weather.

Cloudy skies in Pune may lead to a slight drop in daytime temperatures, but humidity levels are expected to remain high. The weather department has urged people to remain cautious, as thunderstorms and lightning could pose risks in parts of Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh.

Stay Prepared

As Maharashtra transitions from extreme heat to more moderate conditions, it’s essential to stay updated on weather forecasts. While the worst of the heat wave may be over, the combination of humidity and sporadic rain calls for preparedness. Keep an umbrella handy, stay indoors during thunderstorms, and continue to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
