In a decisive move to improve passenger comfort, Maharashtra Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik has ordered the cancellation of bus halts at hotels with poor hygiene and overpriced food. The directive comes after numerous complaints from travelers about unhygienic washrooms, exorbitant food prices, and unprofessional behavior at designated rest stops.

MSRTC buses often halt at specific hotels during long-distance journeys, allowing passengers to eat and freshen up. However, many commuters have reported unsanitary conditions, stale food, and rude staff, prompting the minister to take action.

Sarnaik has instructed MSRTC officials to conduct a thorough inspection of all such stops within 15 days and submit a detailed report. “Passenger health and comfort cannot be compromised, even if it means losing some revenue,” he asserted. The minister also warned against political interference, stressing that only clean, reasonably priced facilities should remain operational.

The MSRTC will now identify and remove substandard halts while exploring better alternatives for travelers. This move is expected to significantly improve the travel experience for thousands of daily commuters.
