In a groundbreaking move to strengthen the education system, the Maharashtra government has announced the “Visit 100 Schools” initiative. Under this program, top-ranking government officials and state ministers will personally visit schools to assess their functioning, welcome students, and address critical issues. The initiative, set to kick off at the start of the 2025-26 academic year, aims to improve the quality of education, boost enrolment in government schools, and foster a positive attitude towards learning.

State ministers will visit at least one school within their constituencies or nearby areas to greet students returning from their summer break. Meanwhile, Class 1 and 2 government officers will visit 100 schools in their respective regions to evaluate infrastructure, hygiene, and the implementation of key programs like midday meal schemes.

A Government Resolution (GR) issued by the school education department highlights the initiative’s focus on making schools more attractive and accessible, particularly in rural areas. Officials will provide guidance on improving school facilities and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment for students. The GR also emphasizes the importance of immediate action if critical issues, such as unsafe infrastructure or unsanitary conditions, are identified during these visits.

“This initiative is a step towards bridging the gap between policymakers and the grassroots level. By directly engaging with schools, we aim to create a more inclusive and effective education system,” the GR stated.

The program also encourages public representatives and officials to report concerns and recommend solutions to the appropriate authorities, ensuring accountability and timely resolution of problems.

This initiative reflects the Maharashtra government’s commitment to transforming the education landscape and fostering a brighter future for students across the state.
