Pune, February 13, 2025: In a decisive move to enhance Pune’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a meeting on February 12 regarding the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The Maharashtra government has approved a ₹4,503 crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, focusing on key projects to improve transport connectivity and urban growth.
Key Highlights of the Budget:
- Road Network Development:
- ₹636 crore allocated for developing roads around the proposed Purandar International Airport.
- ₹203 crore designated for constructing cement roads in the Ranjangaon and Hinjawadi industrial areas.
- Urban Growth Center Initiative:
- ₹1,526 crore set aside for building road networks under PMRDA’s Urban Growth Center initiative.
- Public Transportation:
- ₹250 crore allocated for procuring 500 new CNG buses for the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
- Yerwada-Katraj Twin Tunnel Project:
- A major project aimed at improving urban connectivity, though specific budget details were not disclosed.

CM Fadnavis’s Directives:
- Construct a twin tunnel underground route from Yerwada to Katraj and submit a proposal immediately.
- Enhance connectivity to Purandar Airport from Pune bypass roads, Pune-Satara, and Pune-Nagar roads.
- Update the PMRDA website to provide more online facilities and keep development charges affordable for citizens.
- Ensure manpower and repair systems are in place while providing 500 CNG buses to PMPML.
- Make land in Pune Raj Bhavan premises available for metro flyover services.
Meeting Attendees:
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Ministers Chandrakantdada Patil, Sanjay Shirsat, Madhuri Misal, and other senior officials.
