He further explained that when consumed orally, water has nearly 100% bioavailability. It is quickly absorbed through the gut wall, mainly in the small intestine. Once absorbed, water distributes as follows:

  • 25.5% into interstitial fluid
  • 8.5% into circulating blood volume

Elimination occurs through the kidneys, where water undergoes a highly regulated filtration and reabsorption process.
