Indore-Hyderabad Flight Experiences Chaos as Unruly Passenger Tries to Open Aircraft Door Mid-Air
An intoxicated passenger with mental health issues caused a stir by allegedly attempting to open the aircraft door mid-air just as the Indore-Hyderabad flight was about to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The incident occurred on May 21, but only came to light on Friday.
According to police, the crew and other passengers prevented the man from opening the door, avoiding a disaster.
RGI Airport police arrested him after the plane landed.
His family later approached officials, claiming that he was a psychiatric patient and presenting supporting medical records. He is a resident of Quthbullapur and was granted station bail on Friday.
The man allegedly misbehaved with a passenger by throwing chips and water at him after the plane took off from Indore. He was warned twice before receiving a’red warning card’ for disorderly and disruptive behavior.
When the flight took off from Indore, the crew noticed the man’s unusual behaviour and moved his seat to a different location.
After some time, he insisted on sitting next to his two friends with whom he had traveled to Indore for pilgrimage. After the crew gave in, he resumed normal behavior for some time. He then allegedly misbehaved with a fellow passenger.
The crew and passengers were horrified when he allegedly attempted to open the plane door and forcefully sat in one of the seats. “Until the aircraft landed and came to a halt at the airport, there was a lot of tension in the aircraft,” one of the passengers said. “Despite being warned, the man continued to move in the aisle while the plane was in the air. “When the pilot was about to land, he went to open the door,” RGIA inspector K Balaraju told TOI.
