Indian Railways to Operate Over 1200 Summer Special Trains from Mumbai, Pune and Nearby Stations from April 1 – Details

Mumbai/Pune: To accommodate the surge in travel demand during the summer vacation, the Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) will operate over 1200 summer special trains starting April 1.
Central Railway’s Summer Special Plans
The Central Railway will operate 356 summer special services connecting Mumbai, Pune, Daund, and other key locations. Major routes include:
- Mumbai-Nagpur-CSMT (50 trips, bi-weekly special)
- Mumbai-Karmali (Goa) (36 trips, weekly specials from CSMT and LTT)
- Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram (18 trips, weekly special)
- Pune-Nagpur (48 trips, weekly superfast AC and express specials)
- Daund-Kalaburagi (180 trips, unreserved special services)
- Mumbai-Nanded (24 additional trips from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus)
With these additional services, Central Railway aims to ease the summer rush for thousands of passengers.
Western Railway’s Extensive Summer Schedule
Western Railway has introduced 29 pairs of summer special trains, adding up to 930 trips. Of these, 16 pairs (376 trips) will connect Maharashtra to states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Additionally, seven pairs (140 trips) will cater to Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal.
To support travel towards Telangana and Karnataka, WR will operate two pairs of trains (106 trips). Furthermore, six pairs (192 trips) will originate from Udhna (Surat), while 14 pairs (348 trips) will pass through Udhna or Bhestan. In Gujarat, 16 pairs of originating trains will serve Ahmedabad, Gandhidham, Vadodara, Valsad, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar Terminus.
To accommodate more passengers, WR has also added around 300 general second-class coaches, benefiting migrant workers traveling back to their hometowns.
