Pune: PMRDA Commences Land Acquisition for Inner Ring Road; 25 Percent Bonus for Voluntary Surrender

The Pune district administration has officially launched the land acquisition process for the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) inner ring road project, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. To incentivize landowners, District Collector Jitendra Dudi announced a 25% bonus for those who voluntarily surrender their land, as per the Land Acquisition Act.
Key Highlights of the PMRDA Ring Road Project:
- Project Length and Width: 77.4 km long and 65 metres wide.
- Total Land Required: Approximately 743.41 hectares, including:
- 23.28 hectares of government land
- 45.84 hectares of forest land
- 6.25 hectares from the defence department
- 54.12 hectares transferred to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
- 324.43 hectares of private land
- Compensation for Landowners: Those who surrender their land voluntarily for the project will get a 25% bonus on the compensation amount.
- Forced Acquisition: If landowners oppose the process, compulsory acquisition will be enforced.
Phases and Costs:
- Initial Phases:
- Solu Interchange to Nirgudi: Estimated cost of ₹884.89 crore.
- Nirgudi to Vadgaon Shinde: Estimated cost of ₹310.89 crore.
- Total Project Cost: ₹14,200 crore, including land acquisition expenses.
Survey and Timeline:
- A joint survey will be conducted in March-April to identify beneficiaries.
- Land acquisition for the first and second phases is expected to be completed by May.
Infrastructure Details:
The project includes:
- Two railway flyovers
- 11 tunnels
- 17 major bridges
- Nine interchanges
Collaborative Efforts:
The ring road is a joint initiative between PMRDA and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to address Pune’s growing transportation needs.
Streamlined Process:
Much of the required land is already designated as non-agricultural (NA), simplifying the acquisition process. A dedicated land acquisition officer has been appointed to oversee operations.
