This is not an isolated case. On February 5, a similar tragedy unfolded in Vijayanagara District, Karnataka, where a speeding lorry crashed into a toll booth, killing the driver of a white Bolero jeep. Four others, including toll staff, suffered serious injuries.
India continues to grapple with one of the world’s highest road accident rates, with thousands of fatalities annually. Experts blame poor road conditions, reckless driving, weak traffic law enforcement, and insufficient road safety awareness for the alarming trend.
