In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide to toll taxes on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, covering all the essential details you need to know.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is near completion and covers a distance of 1382 kilometers between Delhi and Mumbai, the political and financial capitals of the country, respectively. This expressway is slated to reduced the travel time between the two cities to a mere 12 hours by road, which normally takes more than 24 hours currently. The speed limit on the highway is 120 km per hour and because there are limited and pre-planned entry and exit points, you can maintain a good average speed.

This will be the world’s longest freeway/expressway, once completed and will also have a dedicated electric lane, the first ever in the country.

This expressway will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on February 12th and he will handover the Dausa-Sohna part of the expressway to the travelers. The foundation of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway was laid out by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) back in March 2019.

Toll Plazas on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has several toll plazas located at different intervals. Each toll plaza collects a specified amount of toll tax for the use of the expressway. The toll tax depends on several factors such as the type of vehicle, the number of axles, and the distance travelled. The toll is charged when you exit the expressway from an exit point and not on entry.

Types of Vehicles and Their Toll Taxes

The toll tax on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway varies depending on the type of vehicle. Cars, jeeps, and taxis are charged a different amount of toll tax compared to trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. It is understood that for cars, the toll tax has been fixed at Rs. 2.19 per kilometer.

Going by that calculation, the toll tax between Delhi and Jaipur (Dausa) will be Rs. 460 and for the entire trip between Delhi and Mumbai would cost you around Rs. 3026. These are tentative rates however and nothing has been confirmed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
