Cop run over by sand mafia tractor while trying to stop illegal sand mining
Mahendra Bagri, Assistant Sub Inspector at Shehdol, was crushed to death when he attempted to stop a tractor carrying sand.
Shehdol: A police officer was run over by a tractor used for illegal sand mining in Madhya Pradesh, according to the police.
Mahendra Bagri, Assistant Sub Inspector at Shehdol, was crushed to death when he attempted to stop a tractor carrying sand.
Bagri went to the site with two constables, Prasad Kanoji and Sanjay Dubey, to investigate illegal mining in the area.
Mahendra Bagri died on the spot, but Kanoji and Dubey managed to escape unharmed. The driver fled the scene after killing Bagri. Police have offered a reward of ₹30,000 for any information that leads to the accused.

Here’s what ADGP DC Sagar said informing about the incident.
“The incident is heart-wrenching. ASI Mahendra Bagri and two associates were travelling over warrant cases. They saw a reckless vehicle coming from the other side. He tried to stop vehicle. It did not stop. The driver hit the ASI. Case was registered against the driver, and his help. The third accused, owner of the vehicle is absconding. We have announced a prize of 30,000 rupees on his name. We will try that such incidents do not repeat in future.”
