Chilling Crime in Bengaluru: Techie Murders Wife, Allegedly Spends Night Talking to Her Body, Now Hospitalized for Failed Suicide Attempt

In a horrifying case that has sent shockwaves across Bengaluru, a 36-year-old techie allegedly stabbed his wife to death during an argument, then attempted to stuff her alive into a suitcase before fleeing the scene. What initially seemed like a crime of passion now appears to be a cold-blooded, premeditated murder, according to investigators.
A Gruesome Crime Unfolds
Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, the accused, and his 32-year-old wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, had moved from Mumbai to Bengaluru just a month ago. Both had quit their jobs, with Rakesh securing a work-from-home position while Gouri was still searching for employment.
On the fateful night, after a heated argument over dinner, Rakesh allegedly slapped Gouri. In retaliation, she threw a kitchen knife at him, causing a minor injury. Enraged, Rakesh then stabbed her twice in the neck and once in the abdomen. Forensic evidence suggests Gouri was still alive when he forced her into the suitcase, as mucus from her nose and mouth—indicative of a living person—was found at the scene.
Failed Escape & Disturbing Cover-Up
After stuffing Gouri’s body into the suitcase, Rakesh tried to drag it out of their Doddakammanahalli home. However, when the suitcase handle broke, he abandoned the plan and moved it to the bathroom, positioning it near a drain to let the blood flow out. He then cleaned the crime scene, locked the house, and fled in his Honda City car around 12:45 AM.
In a bizarre twist, Rakesh later called one of his tenants, falsely claiming that Gouri had died by suicide. When police arrived, they found her body stuffed inside the suitcase.
Twisted Confessions & Suicide Attempt
Rakesh, who was eventually tracked near Pune, gave conflicting statements—first claiming he had spent the night “talking” to his wife’s body, then later admitting it was only for an hour. He also alleged that Gouri was “dominating” him and had strained relations with his parents.
Before his arrest, Rakesh consumed phenyl and cockroach killer in a suicide attempt but was rushed to a hospital by a passerby. He is now in custody and will be brought back to Bengaluru for further investigation.
Gouri’s family, who opposed their marriage, performed her last rites at Wilson Garden Crematorium. Police suspect Rakesh had planned the murder, dismissing his claims of mental instability as an act to mislead investigators.
