Chaos at Pune Airport: Flyers Frustrated with Cab Arrangements, Long Walk to AeroMall

Pune’s newly operational airport terminal was supposed to bring convenience, but passengers are facing chaos instead. Flyers arriving in the city have reported long wait times, confusion, and a lack of proper cab facilities, leaving many frustrated.
First-Time Visitors Left Stranded
One elderly couple, first-time visitors from Delhi, were left clueless when their pre-booked cab was cancelled unexpectedly. “We spent 20 minutes figuring out what to do, then waited 10 minutes for a bus to AeroMall, and another 30 minutes for a cab,” they shared.
With all flights now shifted to the new terminal and summer schedules set to increase air traffic from May 31, passengers fear the situation will worsen. A frequent flyer described his midnight arrival as “total chaos,” criticizing authorities for failing to streamline the process for years.
Buses, Long Walks, and No Clear Solutions
Currently, three buses ferry passengers from arrivals to AeroMall, where cabs are available. While an express lane has been introduced, congestion persists, especially late at night. Another passenger who flew in from Goa, questioned why cabs couldn’t operate from the old terminal temporarily. “The walk to AeroMall is tough for seniors and even exhausting for me in the heat,” they said.
A local businessman also echoed the concerns, suggesting that allowing cabs at the old terminal could ease the burden. Meanwhile, AeroMall’s vice-president YS Rajput mentioned plans to add another bus and proposed a travelator to ease passenger movement.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke has yet to respond to queries on improving the situation. For now, travelers must brace for delays and confusion—a far cry from the seamless experience they expected.
