CBSE Result 2025: No Topper List This Year – Here’s Why

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to announce the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exam results for 2025. While the official date is yet to be confirmed, students can expect the results to be declared in May 2025, going by the trend of previous years.
But this year too, just like the past few years, CBSE has made it clear — there will be no topper list or merit list announced along with the results.
Why CBSE Won’t Announce the Topper List for 2025
CBSE’s decision not to release a topper list for Class 10 and 12 students is part of its ongoing effort to reduce stress and unhealthy competition among students.
This move, which started during the pandemic years when online exams became the norm, has now become a regular practice. The idea is to prevent unnecessary comparisons and pressure among students, allowing them to focus on learning rather than just rankings.
What Students Need to Pass
To clear the CBSE board exams, students must score a minimum of 33% marks overall and also pass each subject individually. The result declared online will be provisional, and students will later need to collect their original mark sheets from their respective schools.
What Happens If a Student Fails?
Students who fail in one or more subjects need not worry. CBSE will conduct supplementary exams in 2025, giving them another chance to clear their papers without losing an academic year.
Moreover, students who feel their marks don’t reflect their performance can apply for verification or request a result improvement process.
