When cars are parked under the sun, especially in high temperatures with the windows fully rolled up, the temperature inside the car quickly rises up to dangerous levels. Any inflammable item kept in the car such as batteries, cigarette lighter or deodorant cans will catch fire and spread it to the rest of the car.
Taking following precautions may prevent such incidents:
- Always park you car in shade during summers
- Use front windshield cover to block direct sunlight
- If the windshield cover is not available, try parking the car facing away from the sun, to avoid lot of sunlight coming in from the front windshield.
- If the security situation permits, roll the windows by an inch after parking the car to prevent hot air build up inside the car. However, the car owner must assess the safety of the car before adopting this method
- Double check to ensure no inflammable materials such as pressurized deo and perfume cans, cigarette lighters, electronic devices or batteries are left in the car while parking it under the sun.
While these methods may reduce the risk of such spontaneous fires when you park your car under the sun, they can reduce the probability of fire to a great extent.
