In a shocking case of betrayal and extortion, a Bengaluru preschool principal and two accomplices have been arrested for blackmailing a student’s father after an alleged affair. The Central Crime Branch took 25-year-old Sridevi Rudagi, along with Ganesh Kale (38) and Sagar (28), into custody for extorting lakhs from the victim using intimate photos and videos.

A Relationship Turned Toxic

The victim, a trader from West Bengaluru, enrolled his youngest daughter in the school in 2023. During the admission process, he met Rudagi, and their professional interactions soon turned personal. They began communicating through a separate SIM card, exchanging messages and video calls, which eventually led to physical encounters.

The situation took a dark turn when Rudagi allegedly extorted ₹4 lakh from him. By January, she demanded an additional ₹15 lakh. When the father hesitated, she visited his home under the guise of borrowing ₹50,000.

The Final Straw

Facing financial struggles, the father decided to move his family to Gujarat in early March. However, when he visited the school to collect his daughter’s Transfer Certificate, Rudagi and her accomplices allegedly trapped him in her office. They showed him private photos and videos, threatening to expose him unless he paid ₹20 lakh.

After negotiation, the amount was reduced to ₹15 lakh, with an initial payment of ₹1.9 lakh. But the demands persisted. On March 17, Rudagi called again, insisting on ₹5 lakh for a “former police officer” (later found to be fake), ₹1 lakh each for Sagar and Kale, and ₹8 lakh for herself.

Fed up, the victim approached the police, leading to the trio’s arrest. They have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody as investigations continue.
