ATM on Deccan Queen Express: Central Railway Enhances Passenger Convenience with Onboard Cash Facility

In a move aimed at boosting passenger convenience, the Central Railway is set to install an ATM on the Deccan Queen Express, following a successful trial run on the Panchavati Express. The iconic train, running between Pune and Mumbai, will soon offer travelers easy access to cash withdrawals during their journey.
This initiative comes after the Bank of Maharashtra partnered with the railways to introduce the service. On the Panchavati Express, the ATM was installed inside an air-conditioned coach, replacing a temporary pantry space. The Manmad Railway Workshop carried out the necessary modifications, ensuring the machine is housed in a secured enclosure with CCTV surveillance and a shutter door for safety.
While the service has been largely smooth, some network disruptions have been reported in areas like Bhor Ghat (Pune-Mumbai route) and the Igatpuri-Kasara section. However, officials remain optimistic about expanding the facility to other premium trains if passenger feedback remains positive.
Swapnil Neela, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, stated, “We are closely monitoring the response to the ATM service on Panchavati Express. If passengers find it beneficial, we will certainly introduce it on the Deccan Queen.”
Frequent travelers have welcomed the move, calling it “one of the most useful additions by Indian Railways in years.”
With this innovation, Central Railway continues to prioritize passenger convenience, making train travel more seamless than ever.
