Apple Expands Retail Footprint in India: New Stores Coming to Noida’s DLF Mall of India and Pune’s KOPA Mall

Tech giant Apple is set to open two new retail stores in India—one at DLF Mall of India in Noida and another at Kopa Mall in Pune—as part of its aggressive retail expansion strategy. This move follows the success of its existing stores in Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Saket, with plans for additional outlets in Bengaluru and Mumbai already in the works.
Growing Demand Drives Expansion
Apple has seen a massive surge in iPhone sales in India, with its market share reaching 11% in the October-December 2023 quarter, making it one of the top five smartphone brands in the country. Despite iPhones being nearly three times more expensive than the average smartphone in India, sales have tripled since 2021, prompting the company to strengthen its retail presence.
Local Manufacturing and Future Plans
In addition to retail growth, Apple is ramping up local manufacturing, aiming to shift 25% of its global production to India. Recent reports indicate that the company has already begun prototype testing for the iPhone 17 in the country, signaling long-term commitment. With partners like Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Wistron, Apple is also increasing exports, recently shipping 600 tons of iPhones to the US from India.
CEO Tim Cook has previously highlighted India as a key market, with the country setting a December-quarter sales record. As Apple continues to invest in both retail and manufacturing, Indian consumers can expect more premium store experiences and faster access to new products.
