The crew of a long haul Air India flight had to scout for hotel rooms for hours after their long haul flight landed in Hyderabad and finally had to put up in shabby rooms with no bedsheets and towels as the airline forgot to book accommodation for some of its crew members.

The airline has promised to take appropriate action for the lapse.

Recently, the cabin crew members, tired after their long duty, hunted for more hotel rooms throughout the night before managing to get accommodation at Air India’s flying training facility CTE in the early hours of Thursday. However, the room lacked basic amenities, with one of the sources saying it was in a “pathetic condition”.

An aviation journalist also tweeted pictures of the room that the crew members stayed in and called out the airline for its inaction.

When the crew members arrived at the hotel where they were supposed to stay, they were shocked to know that no bookings were made for them.

When contacted by PTI, an Air India spokesperson admitted that there was a lapse.

“At Air India, the well-being of our staff is important to us and we offer comfortable stays in globally-known hotels for their layovers. This is a lapse and we will take appropriate action,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Generally, airlines book hotel rooms for cockpit and cabin crew in advance at the city where the flight is to land at night.
