AC Prices Set to Rise by 4-5% Amid Component Shortages and Rising Demand

As temperatures soar and summer approaches, consumers in Pune and across India may face higher costs for air conditioners (ACs). Leading AC manufacturers, including Haier, Bluestar, and suppliers like EPack Durables, have announced a 4-5% price hike due to component shortages and rising input costs.
The price increase, expected to take effect soon, is attributed to global supply chain disruptions, rising raw material costs, and increased freight expenses.
Haier, the third-largest home appliances maker in India with a 10% market share in the AC segment, is ramping up production capacities to meet the anticipated 25-30% surge in demand. However, shortages of critical components like compressors, copper tubes, and semiconductors have forced manufacturers to pass on the additional costs to consumers. Industry insiders estimate that prices will rise by ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 per unit.
The price hike is expected to impact entry-level and mid-range ACs the most, while premium and inverter models may see a slightly lower increase due to their higher margins. Leading brands like Voltas, Blue Star, Daikin, LG, and Samsung have hinted at upcoming price revisions, urging consumers to make purchases before the hike takes effect.
With the early onset of summer and rising demand, the Indian air conditioning market is undergoing a price correction. Consumers planning to buy ACs are advised to act quickly to avoid paying a premium as prices rise ahead of peak summer demand.
