Pune/PCMC, May 20, 2024: Legal action will be taken against all hoarding agencies, license holders, and property owners if illegal hoardings are not taken down.

A meeting was called for all officers from concerned departments and billboard/hoarding license holders and agencies to discuss the responsibilities of each party. A directive was issued that all unauthorized and expired licensed hoardings need to be removed before Sunday, May 19. Starting May 20, PCMC will take legal action against those who fail to comply.

All hoarding owners must renew their licenses annually by March 31. Failure to do so will result in non-renewal. Each hoarding owner must submit a Structural Audit Certificate, which is required for license renewal. Structural audits must be conducted by certified engineers to ensure the structural integrity of the hoardings. The structures must also be painted regularly to prevent corrosion. It will also be the responsibility of the agencies/property owners to inform the Municipal Corporation of any illegal encroachments using or under their structure.

Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, said, “We will also be adding a new feature to the Smart Sarathi application which will allow citizens to report unauthorized hoardings. I appeal to all citizens residing in PCMC to report any illegal hoardings/structurally unstable hoardings via the Smart Sarathi App or by leaving a comment on his Twitter post.”
