Pune: Leopard Spotted on Pune Airport Runway, Forest Officials Launch Search Operation

Pune News – A leopard sighting on the runway of Pune Airport on Monday night has sparked serious concern among airport authorities, security personnel, and passengers.
According to forest department officials, a distress call regarding the wild cat was received late in the evening between 7 PM to 8 PM, prompting an immediate response. A rapid response team was dispatched to the location to handle the situation swiftly.
The incident has intensified fears in the Lohgaon area, where reports of leopard movements have been steadily increasing, raising alarm among residents.
Suresh Varak, Pune Range Forest Officer, clarified that the location where the leopard was spotted is quite far from the runway. “Following the sighting, we have deployed teams and launched an operation to capture it by setting up cages and trap cameras,” he said.
In response, airport security and forest department teams are conducting an extensive search operation across the airport grounds and surrounding areas. Their objective is to locate the leopard and implement necessary safety measures to prevent any harm.
