Pune/Delhi, 22nd April 2025: Over 150 passengers aboard SpiceJet flight SG-477 from Delhi to Pune faced extreme distress after being stranded inside the aircraft for over two hours without air conditioning, followed by repeated delays totaling six hours.

Passengers Suffer in Sweltering Heat, Elderly Struggle to Breathe

Passengers boarded the flight at 3:10 PM for a scheduled 3:25 PM departure, but were left trapped inside the aircraft with no cooling as the cabin temperature soared. Akash Chaturvedi, one of the stranded passengers, took to Twitter (@Akashch19860788), stating:

“It’s 9:20 PM, and we’re still inside the flight. They told us we’d take off by 8:30 PM, but now the excuse is catering delays. Worst service ever. Passengers above 60 are struggling to breathe due to suffocation.”

By 5:00 PM, with no updates from the crew, frustration grew as the air conditioning remained off, leaving travelers sweating and anxious.

Deboarding and Further Delays

Around 5:30 PM, passengers were finally allowed to deboard, with SpiceJet citing a “technical issue.” However, the ordeal continued when they were called back at 8:40 PM, only to face another delay—this time due to late catering. The flight was rescheduled for 9:40 PM, leaving passengers fuming.

SpiceJet’s Response Falls Short

A SpiceJet spokesperson claimed:
*”Flight SG-477 was delayed due to a technical snag. Passengers were provided refreshments.”*

However, travelers disputed this, saying no timely assistance was given. Many took to social media, tagging @flyspicejet, demanding accountability for the mismanagement and lack of basic amenities.

With total delays exceeding six hours, passengers slammed the airline for poor communication and negligence, especially toward senior citizens and those with health concerns.
