Pune: Baba Bhide Bridge Closed for 45 Days, Major Traffic Jams Expected Due to Metro Work

Pune (April 18, 2025): The Baba Bhide Bridge will remain closed for the next 45 days, starting April 18, to facilitate construction work for the Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station bridge. The sudden shutdown is expected to cause severe traffic disruptions, particularly affecting two-wheeler commuters who heavily rely on this route.
The bridge serves as a crucial link between key areas like Sadashiv Peth, Narayan Peth, Deccan, Junglee Maharaj Road, and Fergusson Road. With its closure, commuters will need to take alternative routes, likely increasing congestion on surrounding roads.
Pune Metro has installed signboards regarding the closure, but the lack of prior notice has left many residents unprepared. The abrupt shutdown has caused confusion, especially for bikers who frequently used the riverbed road—now closed without clear diversion signs at the entry point.
Authorities advise commuters to plan alternate routes in advance to avoid delays during this period.
