Pune: Minor Driving Auto Rickshaw Kills Teen Passenger in Katraj-Kondhwa Bridge Crash

Pune News – A minor boy, driving an auto rickshaw without a license, lost control and crashed into a bridge railing in Pune’s Katraj area, killing a 19-year-old passenger in the early hours of April 15. The victim, Ritesh Gaikwad, succumbed to injuries at Sassoon Hospital on Thursday.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2:30 AM after the minor took the auto rickshaw for a joyride with his friend, Jalindar Salunkhe (35), following Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations. Salunkhe, who handed over the vehicle to the minor, has been booked, while the boy has been detained, and his parents issued a notice.

Authorities confirmed the minor had no driving license. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act. Investigations are ongoing.
