Pune: Man Allegedly Drugged, Sexually Assaulted Sister-in-Law in Warje
A shocking case of sexual assault has emerged from Pune’s Warje area, where a man allegedly drugged and assaulted his sister-in-law. The victim, an 18-year-old woman, recently filed a complaint at the Warje police station against her 36-year-old brother-in-law. The incident reportedly took place six months ago during Navratri but was disclosed to her family only recently.
Police revealed that the accused took advantage of the family’s absence during a Navratri pilgrimage. Claiming to help with her headache, he gave her two pills that rendered her unconscious. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her and took obscene photographs. The survivor stated that the accused later blackmailed her, threatening to leak the photos online if she spoke out. He also reportedly used the images to defame her in front of her husband and in-laws.
After gathering courage, the survivor informed her family, who supported her in filing a police complaint. Authorities have registered a case under relevant IPC sections and are investigating further, gathering evidence and questioning witnesses.
