Pune: The beheaded body of a 45-year-old earth-moving machine operator from Bhosari was discovered in a Moshi quarry on Wednesday evening. The victim, Siddharam Dhale, had been missing since March 29.

His wife and relatives identified him based on the clothes he was wearing. The assailants had not only beheaded Dhale but also chopped off his wrists and left leg at the ankle. Senior Inspector Bapu Dhere of Dighi Police stated, “We are yet to recover Dhale’s head and other severed body parts.”

Passersby spotted the body in the quarry, prompting police intervention. A cellphone found near the body helped investigators link the case to a missing person complaint filed by Dhale’s wife with Bhosari Police on March 31.

Dhale’s wife revealed that he had left home for work on March 29 but never returned. She also mentioned that he consumed alcohol but had no known enemies. “Our investigations are ongoing,” said Inspector Dhere.
