A major power outage struck several parts of Pune on Friday evening after a breakdown in MahaTransco’s 220 kV Fursungi-Parvati high-voltage power line. The disruption, which occurred around 5:45 PM, impacted nearly 2.52 lakh consumers across Sinhgad Road, Vadgaon, Dhayari, Kirkatwadi, and Nanded City.

Officials confirmed that the failure affected 66 power lines and 13 substations under MSEDCL, leading to an hour-long blackout in key areas. Supply was fully restored by 6:50 PM. Additionally, around 14,000 consumers in Navi Peth and Juni Parvati faced a 30-minute outage, with power returning by 6:18 PM.

To manage the crisis, MahaTransco diverted electricity through alternative high-voltage substations, ensuring a gradual restoration. Authorities are investigating the cause of the breakdown and have pledged preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
