Pune: Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro 90% Complete, Final Stages Underway

In a major boost for Punekars, the Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi Metro Line (Puneri Metro) is now 90% complete, with just 10% work pending.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) recently held a review meeting chaired by Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase to discuss the progress of Metro Line 3, along with new road projects and infrastructure upgrades.

Officials from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Hinjewadi Industrial Association (HIA), and IT company representatives attended the meeting.

The 23.203 km-long Metro Line 3, approved on February 9, 2018, is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and is expected to transform connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and spur economic growth in Pune.

Earlier in March, the final land required for the project—263.78 sq. m. near Raj Bhavan (Pune University area)—was transferred, completing all land acquisitions. A proposal for this transfer had been submitted in November 2022.
