Pune: PMC Issues Advisory on Preventing Dog Bites and Ensuring Public Safety

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued an important advisory to prevent dog bites and ensure public safety. The guidelines aim to educate citizens on responsible interactions with dogs, reducing the risk of aggressive responses from animals.
According to PMC, individuals should strictly avoid certain behaviors when dealing with dogs. The advisory outlines six key actions that should never be done:
- Do not tease or irritate dogs – Provoking or disturbing a dog can lead to aggressive behavior.
- Do not pull their ears or tail – This can cause discomfort and may trigger a defensive reaction.
- Do not run in front of a dog – Sudden movements can startle the animal and lead to chasing or biting incidents.
- Do not hug a dog tightly – Restricting a dog’s movement can make it feel threatened.
- Do not sit on a dog – This is extremely dangerous and can lead to serious injury for both the person and the animal.
- Do not stare directly into a dog’s eyes for too long – Dogs may perceive prolonged eye contact as a threat.

PMC urges citizens to follow these safety measures to prevent unnecessary conflicts with dogs. The advisory is part of the municipal corporation’s broader initiative to promote responsible pet interaction and public safety.
