The announcement was made during a Parliament session on Wednesday (March 19), responding to demands for improved long-distance train connectivity from Pune.

Pune, a rapidly developing educational hub, has seen a surge in demand for trains connecting to states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. To meet this demand, the Railways will develop four stations in Pune, enhancing capacity and services.

Vaishnaw also provided updates on ongoing projects, including the Hadapsar Terminal and the redevelopment of Shivajinagar Railway Station. The new terminal at Uruli Kanchan will handle maintenance and repair activities, allowing Pune Railway Station to focus on train arrivals and departures. This strategic shift is expected to improve train operations, increase service frequency, and benefit passengers without disrupting the station’s development.

The announcement has been welcomed by Pune’s commuters, who have long advocated for better railway infrastructure to support the city’s growth.
