Pune is making significant strides to streamline the process of obtaining High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) for vehicles. With a surge in demand due to mandatory requirements and an influx of vehicle owners from other districts, the city is expanding its HSRP installation centers to cater to residents who have relocated to Pune for education, employment, and business opportunities.

To address the growing demand, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is increasing the number of HSRP installation centers, particularly benefiting those with vehicles registered outside Pune but currently residing in the city. Additionally, the RTO is tackling the issue of unexpected closures of some HSRP centers, which has caused inconvenience, especially for senior citizens. Efforts are being made to ensure consistent service availability.

In a move to further simplify the process, the RTO has instructed Rosmerta Company to waive home delivery fees for buildings or companies with more than 25 vehicles. This initiative aims to reduce the burden on vehicle owners and encourage timely compliance.

The deadline for obtaining HSRP plates is April 30, 2025. With approximately 2.5 million vehicles in Pune requiring these plates, the current 125 installation centers are insufficient to meet the demand, leading to delays. The expansion of services is expected to ease the process for residents and out-of-district vehicle owners alike.
