Customer Raises Concerns Over Weight Discrepancies in Blinkit Orders

A Blinkit customer recently took to Reddit to voice their frustration over repeated issues with weight discrepancies in their orders from the quick commerce platform. The user shared photographic evidence to support their claims, sparking a wave of similar complaints from other customers.

The Reddit user revealed that they had ordered 500 grams of grapes from Blinkit a few weeks ago. Upon receiving the package, they noticed it felt unusually light. After weighing it, they discovered that the grapes, including the packaging, weighed only 370 grams—significantly less than what was promised. Initially, the user dismissed it as a one-time error. However, the same issue occurred again last week when a 500-gram package of grapes weighed just 395 grams, including the packaging.

The user didn’t stop there. They recalled other instances of poor service, including receiving open boxes of cat food with missing pouches and cheaper fruits and vegetables instead of what they had ordered. “I feel this is not by accident but a rather thought-out way to scam customers,” the user wrote. They urged others to exercise caution, advising, “Please don’t trust Blinkit blindly… Please use Blinkit only if absolutely necessary and double-check everything to ensure you are not being scammed.”

Blinkit Responds to the Allegations
Blinkit, the quick commerce platform owned by Zomato, responded to the Reddit post, apologizing for the customer’s experience. The company stated, “We completely understand the unsettling experience you had with us. We would like to identify and rectify the discrepancies in weight, packaging, and product quality.” Blinkit also requested the user’s order ID or registered mobile number to investigate the issue further.

Netizens Share Similar Experiences
The Reddit post quickly gained traction, with many users sharing their own negative experiences with Blinkit. One user commented, “Numerous times I have had one item missing from the order (in case of large orders). Though they send it after raising a ticket, I did not find it worth my time and stopped using the app altogether.” Another user questioned the reliance on quick commerce apps, saying, “Why are we even trusting apps and companies for our basic needs? Why are we making billionaires more billionaires when there are hardworking people running grocery shops who actually need income from local residents?”

A third user shared, “I too ordered 500 grams of tomatoes, and there were only four small to medium-sized tomatoes. From my previous experience buying veggies, it was not even 400 grams. It was around 350 grams. They are cheating people.”

This incident has raised concerns about the reliability of quick commerce platforms and their commitment to customer satisfaction. While Blinkit has promised to address the issue, the growing number of complaints suggests a systemic problem that needs urgent attention.
