As part of the state’s push for Metro network expansion in Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur, Pawar also stated that 23.2km of Metro lines are expected to become operational in Pune this year.

Additionally, three more Metro routes—Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, Ramwadi to Wagholi, Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor, and Hadapsar to Saswad Road—are also awaiting clearance under Pune Metro’s Phase II expansion.

Officials from Maha Metro expressed optimism, stating that approvals from the Centre would accelerate project implementation. Meanwhile, work is already in progress for the PCMC-Nigdi and Swargate-Katraj extensions.

Commuters and city residents have urged authorities to expedite approvals for all proposed routes to improve public transport and ease daily commuting challenges.
