Pune: Two Dead, Three Injured in Bus-Car Collision Near Tamhini Ghat

PUNE: Two persons lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries after a car collided with a state transport (ST) bus near Tamhini Ghat on Tuesday. The accident occurred around 1:30 PM near a rest house in the ghat region.
The deceased have been identified as Manaskumar Sahu and Sakhubai Kangude. The injured—Rupali Manas Sahu, Tarabai Balu Nalawade, and Rama Manas Sahu—were rushed to a government hospital for medical treatment.
According to the Mangaon police, the state transport bus was headed towards Chinchwad when a speeding car lost control due to the steep slope of the ghat, leading to the collision. The impact trapped the injured passengers inside the car. Local trekker groups, along with the police, carried out the rescue operation using cranes to extricate the victims.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while driving through the steep curves of Tamhini Ghat to prevent such mishaps.
